I really think it’s time to just get behind this thing.

It’s unexpected.

It might not be sustainable.

But damn if it isn’t a lot of fun and a pleasant surprise.

The Flames swept their four game homestand with a 4-3 shootout win over the Kaprizov-less Minnesota Wild. The game looked locked down for the Flames with just over five minutes left; the homeside with a two goal lead. But two late Wild goals and a nail biter of an overtime period had the game very much in doubt.

The Flames are now six games over .500 and a point out of first place in the Pacific Division.

I can guarantee you nobody had that on their bingo card at a week before US Thanksgiving.

The Islanders weren’t goalie’d like the Predators were on Friday night.

The Flames had a pretty good five on five game, had the better chances, and stuck with it through 60 minutes.

But damn if the little guy (Dustin Wolf) didn’t hold the fort when things were in the balance setting up his team to tie it up in the third and eventually win the game in the shoot out.

Incredible young season from the Flames led by their goaltending, and Ryan Huska coaching.

Time to get on board? Can they actually do this?

The Predators got themselves goalie’d!

Dustin Wolf takes a star turn, posting his first ever NHL shutout in a 2-0 win over the Nashville Predators on Friday night at the Saddledome.

Wolf, who came within a whisker of a shut out in his last start against the Kings, but tonight got it done despite his team being outplayed for the most part all night.

The Flames get a big win in game one of a four game homestand.

Next up the Islanders on Tuesday night.

With three games in four nights one had to wonder if this was a game that would get away from them.

It did.

The Flames were badly out played in the first half of the game, but somehow led after 20 before giving up two quick second period goals on the way to a 3-1 defeat in Vancouver on Tuesday night.

If you’re an optimist you see it as the loss breaking up a four game points streak. If you’re a pessimist the Flames how now lost four of their last six.

Next up the Predators are in town on Friday night.

Another workmanlike hockey game from the Calgary Flames.

A shut down first.

Some opportunistic finish in the second.

And some great Dustin Wolf goaltending to steer it home as the Flames beat the LA Kings 3-1 and push their point streak to four games.

The Flames received goals from Mikael Backlund, Jonathan Huberdeau and Kevin Rooney into an empty net.

Dustin Wolf had his shutout bid lost on a review with 2.5 minutes to go in the game.
