Game Takes: Tampa 5 Flames 1

Tough to win a game when you spot a competitive team four goals in the first period.

The Flames did just that in Tampa on Wednesday night, and predictably went on to lose the game 5-1.

The loss breaks up a three game win streak for the Flames, and evens their five game road trip at 1-1-0 through two games.

Back channels suggest the Flames extended GM Craig Conroy for two years behind the scenes which is much more impactful than any on ice action tonight.

Calgary moves on to play the Panthers on Friday afternoon in their next stop on this trip.

Break up the Calgary Flames?

Some timely goal scoring and some top notch goaltending proved to be too much for the Vancouver Canucks despite hosting a tired team that arrived at 230AM to their hotel rooms in a 5-2 win by the Flames.

The victory gives the Flames their first three game win streak of the season, as they start out a long road trip that heads to Tampa for a game on Wednesday.

The Flames got goals from Morgan Frost, Connor Zary, Kevin Bahl, Yegor Sharangovich and Blake Coleman.

Dustin Wolf was air tight in net.

Game Takes: Flames 3 Stars 2 (SO)

Last season the Flames caught some teams taking them lightly in the first quarter to half of the season.

Later as the season wore on, teams were perhaps more ready to be in a game, but had trouble matching the Calgary work ethic and found themselves on the losing side of some grind games.

Felt like last night we saw a return of both as the Calgary Flames wore out the Dallas Stars to the tune of a 3-2 shoot out victory, giving the club their second two game win streak this season.

Calgary got goals from Matt Coronato, who suffered a broken nose and stitches for an ugly hit from behind, and Joel Farabee. Jonathan Huberdeau was assessed 17 minutes in penalties for coming to Coronato’s aid.

Next up a game tonight in Vancouver.

Interesting game in Chicago.

Lots of hits. Some bad blood. And a flurry of goals in the third period after almost zero offence through the first 30 minutes of the game in a 5-2 Chicago win that featured a Connor Bedard hat trick.

The Flames got goals from Matt Coronato and Rasmus Andersson and had the game tied at 2-2 in the third before the Hawks scored three unanswered goals to wrap the night up.

Next up a game in Buffalo tomorrow night.
